Love and Value Yourself!

I want you to love and value yourself. My number one goal/mission/purpose in life is to encourage women to love themselves and to have good self-esteem and a positive self-image. It sounds so simple: Love yourself. But when you really think about it, it encompasses so much and it can completely change the world. If you think about all of the problems that stem from women and girls not loving themselves you get the bigger picture. When you don’t love yourself, you tend to have low self-esteem and self-worth. We’re talking teen pregnancies, domestic violence, bullying, suicide, and those are the big issues. There’s also just everyday unhappiness. Agoraphobia, Self-Harm, + Depression

I’m a pretty big self-love advocate (just in case you’ve been hiding under a rock somewhere and didn’t know, check out my workbook!). It’s what I want to do for the rest of my life, encouraging women to discover the ability to love who they are. This path hasn’t been easy. I haven’t always loved myself, in fact, I have hated myself, loathed myself, and wished that there was some way I could erase my existence. Thank you depression. Self-Care for the Winter Blues

We’re in the midst of Winter, and I don’t know about you but I’m really starting to feel it. I’m getting grumpier than usual and listless and I have spent way too much of my time playing solitaire on my phone. I see winter as a time to go within and connect with myself and I’ve been thinking about some things that make Winter-time easier to deal with, at least for me. There’s winter blues – a general sense of grumpiness – which we’re talking about today and then there’s Seasonal Affective Disorder – which can be very serious. If you feel like you suffer from SAD, be sure to talk to your healthcare provider for treatment options. Symptoms of SAD include fatigue, depression, hopelessness, and social withdrawal and treatment includes light therapy (phototherapy), talk therapy, and sometimes medication.
